Stunning news from America, Donald Trump wants to buy Chelsea
New York Jets owner Woody Johnson is preparing a bid to buy Premier League side Chelsea, according to sources.
Blues owner Roman Abramovich is selling the club in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the subsequent threat of financial sanctions.
And according to ESPN, the American businessman - a long-time ally of former US President Donald Trump - is set to capitalise on the situation and make an offer.
The 74-year-old billionaire, an heir to the Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical company, has reportedly already spoken to Raine Group, which is organising the bidding process.
Johnson is thought to have a good understanding of both Chelsea and the Premier League, having lived in London during his time as United States ambassador to the United Kingdom under Trump.
It is thought that sparked his beginnings as a Blues follower, and he remains a fan of the club and their supporters.
